For the love of music

LukeFest is a fundraising concert to:

  • Link local contemporary musicians with the Chwyl Family School of Contemporary Music
  • Provide meaningful musical collaboration between students and local musicians.
  • Deliver a quality event for students and local musicians to play to a large audience.
  • Raise money for Luke's Gift and Luke's Legacy.

Local musicians and students from the School of Contemporary Music are working together to make a unique and fun event. LukeFest tickets can be purchased online or at Lyle'es Place.

The LukeFest Sound

Sexy Rock and Roll/remix, mashups and new classics.

Artistic Director, Daniel Lapp along with LukeFest HouseBand and solo artists will present new takes on classic rock, and original music with a focus on the song rather than the artist. Bill Henderson and Mike Demers have graciously agreed to be musical mentors who will perform with students and the Houseband. Follow the LukeFest News and Blog for more information.

Why LukeFest?

Luke Rachwalski's Memorial was held on February 9th, 2014. The Rachwalski family relied on Luke's friends to make sure Luke's music was appreciated and presented beautifully as a tribute to his life. The event was put together under the direction of George Anstey in only 3 weeks.  The artists and musicians called themselves Superband (tongue in cheek) and all involved agreed, regardless of the circumstances, it was a positive event, and....

We need to do another concert... focused on the future and building community.

When the Rachwalski's originally pitched the idea to Daniel Lapp at the School of Contemporary Music, Daniel paused  for a moment and said, "LukeFest". And the idea was conceived and a hashtag born. #Chwylout
